engine install (and getting the truck back on the road)
I have my new to me 86' SWB, that I did some trading for and am in the process of getting it back on the road....
it would not run when i got it, and it was about 1/2 a can low on compression.. I am in the middle of installing another "mystery" engine in the truck, and have been tearing it down today for inspection and to reseal and replace the gaskets on it..... I already have an eldebrock 600cfm carb, and performer intake and headers that came with the truck. while tearing the "new" engine down, thats going in the truck, I have found a few things.... it has comp cam roller tip rocker arms stock ratio world products s/r torquer cylinder heads been bored 30 over and has flat tops with 4 vale reliefs. has a pete jackson gear drive.. don't know which one...cam gear is stamped "PJ 92 (hope it is one of the quiet ones) has a crane compucam 2040 camshaft has a windage tray and a melling HV oil pump.... plan on taking a few pics today to add to this thread.... I have to read a little more about the cam, but I hope it will work well with the other parts on the engine...... opinions? |

Sounds like alot of fun when you stab that back in . What was the piston to wall clearance.

have not checked the piston to wall clearance, you can still see the cross hatches in the cylinder walls...
this is basically just a reseal the new engine going in...the previous engine owner got rid of it because it was leaking oil..... |
