I had heard years ago that Mercury Outboard had built the engine for the first ZR-1 Corvette.

One thing about boat motors, if you had twins,, one turned clockwise the other counterclockwise. Had 2 409's out of a boat many years ago. The cam as mentioned before was all for torque at low RPM. Had to find automotive exhaust manifolds, Air cleaner and that was about it. Would change the cam though.

Sometimes the rotation was changed in the gear and sometimes it was in the motor itself.
