Body Panels

I am doing a longbox to shortbox conversion on a 69 GMC. I will end up needing box sides and a tailgate. Has anyone had any luck buying from the aftermarket and did the panels have to be worked lots to fit?

Re: Body Panels

Personally if your box is in sound shape, and you have a welder/access to one and the skills, to cut the original box down on the frame and weld it to insure proper fitment. And even if you current box isn't in rot free shape, might consider patching the areas that are and than continuing with the shortening.

There are a ton of threads and build threads where people have done this with very detailed info and pictures, just got to search.

I have heard a few horror stories about lwb to swb conversions and using repo parts and getting them to fit straight.

But that just my .02 and what I would do if I was doing a swb conversion.

Re: Body Panels

I have never heard anything bad about re-pop SWB bedsides. I plan on using them. Re-pop tailgates on the other hand, I have never heard a positive thing about them.
