Man....hard to believe 1,500 miles. Most fire trucks see more action than that. hmmmmm

Re: 1971 Firetruck 1,500 Miles
Looks good, but i can roll mine back and say 1500 miles any day. Maybe it is, but unless its documented who really knows. I am from a very small town in Georgia and I hardly ever see the fire truck leave the station. So it is definitely possible.

Re: 1971 Firetruck 1,500 Miles
Only 1500 mi on a 39 year old firetruck in a rural town, while not likely, is not totally implausible either. I know the one for our volunteer fire department sits for months at a time without going anywhere. The population of Ransom, Kansas has a whopping total of 338 people. How many fires could that truck have possibly been used on? Not many, IMO.

Re: 1971 Firetruck 1,500 Miles
Bottom line is whether it's 1,500 or 150,000....it has a high cool factor. Be interesting to follow it and see what it brings at the auction.

Re: 1971 Firetruck 1,500 Miles
Aside from all the nay-sayin`,That`s one fine C/50 I`d like to have.Looks like a new seat,or I mean a 1,500 mile seat.Who says they`ve had it in service up till now?Maybe they had about a truck more than they ever really needed.Maybe the stations were a bit on top of each other.Maybe folks in Wichita got enough sense not to light there dang houses up .I could prolly yay-say more, but there`s things I can imagine.I just kinda doubt a Fire Dept would get together and lie and I`m sure it is documented,ya think?
I agree with fine69,except I see a "truck" hauler.Car?Whattzat?

Re: 1971 Firetruck 1,500 Miles
I was thinking the same thing! That would be cool to drive as is or convert the back end into a wedge flat bed or roll back.

Re: 1971 Firetruck 1,500 Miles
I AGREE... I WORKED FOR G.M. TRUCK & BUS (AN ASSEMBLY PLANT IN FLINT MI. THAT BUILT BLAZERS, SUBURBANS & PICKUPS) BACK IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES. THEY HAD A 68 3/4 TON, IN PLANT FIRE TRUCK THAT HAD LESS THAN 5OO ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. IT WAS A 3 MILLION SQ. FOOT BUILDING, & THIS TRUCK HAD NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE, SO IT'S VERY POSSIBLE. NOT EVERYONE YOU MEET IS A LIAR & THIEF. I CAN'T IMAGINE GOING THRU LIFE THINKING EVERYONE OUT THERE IS UNTRUSTWORTHY & OUT TO SCREW YOU OVER. THAT WOULD TEND TO MAKE ME SO PARANOID THAT I WOULD BE AFRAID TO LEAVE MY HOUSE, & NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING ANYBODY TOLD ME. YOU CAN BUILD A MILLION BRIDGES, AN NOBODY CALLS YOU A BRIDGE BUILDER... BUT TELL ONE LITTLE LIE... & IN THAT PERSONS EYES, YOU ARE A LIAR FOREVER. JOHN

You could hire out to hose off people at hot summer events(or keep dust down).Just tell the wife it`s one heck of a pressure washer.
