Re: 49 chevy floor replacement
it ain't easy!!! make sure your all braced up before you remove any of the floor. once you remove your floor the cab will flex and then your can of worms is wide open.....
the best plan for a floor is a bunch of patience and lots of time... but no worries a lot of rookies have done this. post some picts and we might be able to help you decide what has to be replaced.... GT

Re: 49 chevy floor replacement
I replaced the complete floor in my '49.I braced the cab everywhere and then removed it frome the frame and flipped it onto its back. With the cab on its back this seemed to make it alot easier to work on.As for the floor i used dynacorn they have a complete floor that has all the factory braces and fits back in like a glove.I included a picture of my truck at its current stage and can take more pictures of the floor if you would like.Hope this helps and good luck!

Re: 49 chevy floor replacement
some of the pictures of when we put the floor in are on an old cell phone i have.I have been trying to get them off of it but havent had much luck.I will tell you that all i did was cut the old floor out close to where it is spot welded in at and then i used an air hammer to finish getting the rest of the metel around the spot welds.Once all the old metal was out and everything was cleaned up the new floor went back in like factory.

Greg, Did you just tack in some rebarb to stiffen everything up before you cut it out? I'm going to be replacing mine here shortly too so I am trying to formulate a game plan. |
