Speedo ?s
I put a 700r4 in my 71 and the speedo don't work, i know about the different gears etc. to get the speedo correct but mine doesn't work at all i can unhook it from the trans and spin the cable by hand and it works so my ? is are there different size ends on the cables? the square end on the cable seems to be too small for the hole in the trans just looking at it and maybe it is not catching the cable to spin it? thanks

Is the tranny new or rebuilt? I have encountered this with a couple rebuilt trannies from parts stores. They didnt have the drive gear on the output shaft of the tranny and I had to pull the tail housing off and install the drive gear and clip from the old tranny. Never ran into a cable too small for the drive gear unless the drive gear was stripped out from a binding cable. Might be worth a look inside the hole the speedo drive goes in to see if there is a gear on the shaft.

it is rebuilt from a local shop, i know it has the gear on the shaft but i not sure about the other gear, i was there when they put it on before i took the trans home
