I would just switch to the whole front suspension from the '86. This is assuming you have the complete truck. This will be easy since you plan on changing engines. To use the '86 motor mount rackets, you will need to trim the top flange of the frame a little. This will be necessary if you ever plan on running headers also. Just use the top of the '86 frame as a reference. You can use the power steering box from the '86 as well.
