Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finished my fuel cell install yesterday and put the bed back on.
Coincedently, anyone ever have a brand new Summit cell leak around the fittings right out of the box? Today I got most of the wiring done for my (on the cheap) electric fan setup, more info to come on that. Also cleaned up/tucked and retaped a lot of wiring, found a lovely twisted/soldered/duct taped and electrical taped mess at the battery for the wire running to the fuse block. My grandpa switched it to sidepost and had some "interesting" fixes to say the least. Gonna grab a new terminal tomorrow and redo it correctly.

Installed a late model steering wheel, even got the horn to work, and replaced the track bar and new bushings.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed rear tires, double checked for leaks (still leaks out behind the yoke). Centered the backend with the adjustable panhard bar. Dropped down and backed out of the garage just to drive it a little. I love the sound of open headers. Sucks that it leaks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I installed my parts from mgbmike. New filter sock and fuel sender float. I'm trying to avoid pulling the tank, cause if'n I do, I ain't gunna put er back. I definitely switch to an under bed tank of some sort and I know how much work that will be.
Thanks Mike. Last edited by K2Orion; 06-07-2010 at 10:14 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Very nice Hart Rod!
As for me, I got quite mad and gave up, nothing went right. Shoulda known it was gonna be a lousy evening when my Cobalt randomly died on me and wouldn't restart coming through town, had to pop the clutch to get to to run again.... What an evening. Grrrrr

Doesn't matter what I do to my truck on a given day as long as I bleed on it when the task is done.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Yesterday I got my electric fan setup all completed, works right and pulls a lot of air. Tonight I'll install some misc. parts I got from Classic Parts and probably connect the fuel gauge and fuel cell, kinda important since I drove it to work today with no idea how much gas is in it. Also gotta figure out how to route the dang exhaust so the panhard bar quits smashing it up against my bumper over every bump.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
THE AMAZING FUEL PUMP EXPERIENCE.
Yea well...here's the thing. My 72 started missinig yesterday, loss of power, but idled fine. Hmmmm...(Thinking) AH AH..."Fuel Pump" my wife beat me to it. Good guess I said. But I was thinking the same. She spoke first. Drats! I've taught her too much. Limp home to see fuel leaking from the weep hole on fuel pump. Amazing diagnosis. We don't always get it right the first time do we?! You can guess what I did to my truck today. Later dudes...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Finished tightening bolts and topped off differential. Put the exhaust on since people around here just don't appreciate my 355 idling with open headers like I do. Dropped it down and appreciated the stance with 2"drop in back. Fixed reverse light problem - had a couple wires reversed. If the weather is nice tomorrow I'm filling it up with lumber for the next project for the house. man I missed having my truck!
