Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I have long been a believer in Moog front end parts. It's good stuff.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
That box of parts has been sitting in my garage for a year waiting for me... yes, they seem to be very high quality, and the difference in ride is AMAZING. only problem now is there is no more suspension clunk/rattle so you can REALLY hear the body panels over bumps. chasing body rattles...sounds like next weekend's project!

I decided to try my hand at fixing a couple of really small dings on the drivers side of the truck. I took my touch up paint and filled the small area's with paint. i let it dry over night and then took mineral sprits and rubbed the spots just enough to get them smooth. It turned out great they dis appeared and now I have moved on to the hood area and front bumper. Hoping to get the same results there.

Re : MOOG Parts
Agreed but then so was the OEM suspension stuff (shocks not withstanding) .
The real trick is : no one ever greases the myriad of Zerk fittings of , if they do they don't raise the vehicle so the suspension is unloaded when they do so . It's a simple thing to really clean all the old accumulated grease and road grime _once_ then simply wipe off the new grease every time you grease it . I'm always amazed how many older vehicles have groaning ball joints I can hear from 1/2 block away and they simply ignore it or blame the vehicle . Oil & Grease are the cheapest mechanic's you'll ever use . -Nate |

We are going to need you to start a build thread on that jewel. And I'll get to see it in person, as I'm doing Memphis on.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I have been working on my '67 trying to get the turn signals, tail-lights and brakes lights to work for a while so I can get it inspected and licensed. I wanted to get if fixed so I can take to a local car show the first of June.
I installed a universal turn signal switch on the column thinking it would be a quick fix, as usual not a good idea. I did get the turn signals to work on the back and sometimes on the front after I put in a new flasher. Well today my son took mercy on me and came out to help. In a short amount of time we got everything working ok. It sure helps to have two people working on these old trucks. He has a lot more knowledge than I do about these old trucks because he has been building them for a long time. We ended up running ground wires for the back lights and one of the turn signal lights in the grill. Also the connector on the brake light switch was a little corroded and had to be cleaned up.

Wiring sure does take some time, most don't like to work on it as usually puzzling.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Pulled it out of the garage with the quad, and gave it a bath. Decided to wax the old paint (was painted 25 years ago) and it cleaned up pretty good. Still a ton more work, but it's getting there.

Good day. Firnished cleaning and undercoating bed frame in prep for new bed wood. Dropped right wheel wheel to sand, prep and paint. Power washed passenger side engine and tried to loosen right manifold bolts to replace cracked manifold. 4 loose--2 won't budge.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Yesterday I got my Intros mounted and balanced and set my frame down for the first time with the new suspension. It is sitting on the tranny pan in this pic. I have a deep pan, going to have to go back to a stock pan.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
just finished a 4 day marathon mini build on my 67LWB. ECE 4.5/6 drop (2in coils and 2.5 spindles up front), 6 lug disc brake conversion, power brake conversion and front sway bar kit. the rear drop kit included the super track bar kit, shock relocation kit, 6 in drop springs, new shocks. when i got my front end apart i decided to do all new ball joints, tie rod ends, as well as all new brakeline plumbing. got everything back together and found that my 15in front wheels wont fit anymore. no big deal, kinda figured it would happen. now i got to get a couple cheap used front wheels and tires to get it to the tire shop for wheels, tires, and a fresh alignment. probaby have to put some wheel spacers on the back to clear fenders. plan on putting 20x8.5 raceline 136 maxim's all the way around. probably gonna stagger the tires a bit to fill the rear fender wells up and to get away from that low profile tire look. probably 40 or 45 series tires.
