Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I picked up my new 4l85E today. Now I can get started on my project. Had to wait until I had all of the big parts before tearing my truck apart (ZZ502, 4l85E and a Strainge 9" with Wilwood brakes).

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Finally got to start working on my bed wood again. It's been a couple of weeks and I havent got to do anything but fire her up for a few minutes. Sanded down the bottom side and put on the first coat of Spar Urethane. Hopefully it dries enough today that I can put another coat on tonight. Got two more coats to go then I can start on the top side.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
It's raining and dreary here today. Made a trip into town yesterday and got an early BD present from the Boss (wife). She had already ponied up $200 of the $400 for the front and rear window purchase/install.
That was supposed to be it. But when she saw me pawing a Craftsman polisher (for the interior I painted a few weeks ago), she "insisted". Nice. So, today, I'm staying under the roof next to the wood stove.....and reading the Forum. Let's see if I can find some kind of pic that's related to this post.....Thanks for the polisher, Woman!!!! (Just in case she reads the Forum today ![]()

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Nothing to the truck but installed a new connecting rod in my air compressor. No I've just gotta fill it up with oil and get my electric routed and I'll be in air tool heaven!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Sanded down the tops of the bed wood. I will put on the first coat of urethane tonight. Bought my wife a set of american racing wheels for her mustang. Should be worth some points for chevy parts.
[IMG] and here is the boy with the bed wood. He would rather work on the truck than hang with his friend across the street. Good times! [IMG]

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I drove my truck for the last time before disassembly today (it was a special time...sigh). My friend came by with his son to help disassemble my truck, so, my friend and his son and myself and my son pulled the front sheet metal, pulled the motor/trans and pressure washed the front suspension and frame.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Nice work TRKFRK! I put the 4th coat of urethane on my bed wood after running the heater in the garage for two hours. Got a little twisted between the propane and the urethane :>)))))))

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today I removed the bench seat, fender wells, fenders and doors. I was also able to get the gas tank and sending until installed and almost finished painting the back half of the frame.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Fired her up today. Right around 50 degrees today in Colorado. Doesn't look like a white Christmas this year. Drove it up and down the street a few times to charge the battery. Put the final coat on the bed wood. I will begin assembly the day after tomorrow(the wife may seize up if I spend the the day in the garage)
[IMG] [IMG] Put the windshield washer bottle holder and bottle on the fender wall. listened to a vacuum leak at idle and thought about tracking it down.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
First sunny day around here for the last ten days.
So, while "The Boss" was in the kitchen putting together a serious Christmas Eve spread, I went over to the shop for about four hours. I finished the gas tank vent lines (almost), installed the dash pad...still need to tweek it a little....put in glove box door bumpers (I used an earlier- '60's glove box emblem to piss some "proper" folks off, but mostly to cover one of my paint boo-boos), hand-set the defrost vents, installed the Vintage Air center vent (I'd already cut the hole), used some sound deadener material to block off the old radio grill because you could see thru the front window to the inside of the dash. I figured that at night, with any lights on in the dash, it would look really funky without blocking it off. Polished out the inside sill of the driver's door. Found some dents that I'm just going to live with this go-round (Rat Rod, you know). When I got home, I took the final shot in the driveway. I thought I was outta doe!!!!
