Cruised her to class last night. Got her up to 75 with nothing falling off! Was nice to drive her, never even turned the radio on. Just listened to the sound of my exhaust leak......

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I got my ball joints and front brakes job finished, got her back down on her wheels. Tomorrow I'll convert over to power brakes (if it don't rain, that is) and if I have time I'll start on the rear brakes.
After all that, I do need to re-visit the front end. I used the supplied upper shock mount on the driver's side, but then as I was looking around the bolt bin for something, I found a set of much heavier duty shock mounts. In time for the right side, but now I want to replace the left side.

Dropped in a MSD Street Fire HEI distributor!
Now she won't upshift, runs great in first gear though! I think its a vacuum line. Didnt feel like crawling under the truck tonight.

Pulled both fenders (inner and outer) and both doors. I'm in full strip down mode. I'll try to pull the radiator and radiator support tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I got converted over to power brakes. Woulda gone better, but I had a few set backs. I didn't know there are specific brackets for specific boosters. I wanted to use a different one than the one I ended up using.
So it ended up taking longer than I thought, so all I got done on the rears was the drums off. I didn't make it to the parts store before they closed anyways, so I don't have the new shoes or wheel cylinder rebuild kits I need. I suppose it'll be monday before I can get them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Mounted my oil cooler and bent the hard lines from the cooler to the bulkhead fittings on the front crossmember. I know they are called "hard lines" but they should be called "Really, really difficult to make fit lines" or "Next time I'm using braided hose lines".
I also had to bend my panhard bar so it would clear the oil filler on my rearend housing...that was easier than the 1/2" hard lines. |

Sandblasted my a arms , rear end support brackets, tranny crossmember , and front suspension cross members , had time to spray all parts with epoxy primer sealer then painted both cross members the same color of the frame hot lick blue. I will paint remaining part corvette silver tomorrow , will be installing back on frame in the evenings after work. This is on my 68 S/W I am frame off building to pass on to my grandson. I will get photos on as I build.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Finally got my speedo dialed in. Took me 3 gears at 10 bucks a pop to find the right one. Even with the gear calculator on this sight. No worries tho. Was driving the other day and could hear metal hitting metal on the bumps. Got under there and found that when I lowered her the exhaust is now hitting one of the trailing arms. I guess the power steering will wait until the new exhaust is installed.
Happy Easter.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed a tilt steering column. Discovered some wiring issues from PO. Ordered a turn signal kit to get them working. Need to purchase some electrical connectors to begin the corrective actions. Deciding between the 68 steering wheel and the 70 steering wheel.
