Cowl Induction Scoop on a Stock Hood???

I would like to add a 1 1/2" cowl induction scoop to my stock '65 Chevy truck hood. Should I use a fiberglass scoop or metal? What brand? What size works best? Pictures to please.

Here is a link to the only steel cowl scoops that I know of. Although they don't offer a 1 1/2" one. I would go with the steel one myself.

Re: Cowl Induction Scoop on a Stock Hood???

I was thinking about using the center of a spare stock hood to create the cowl and welding that on a second hood. A bad idea?

As far as fiberglass hoods go..
They are only 3 company at this time that makes 60-66 chevy/GMC hoods that I know of after Researching online.
US Body Source
Unlimited Performance Products
The third one I can't remember right off but I started a thread about it a while back.
Now the first 2 company's will ship you crappy looking hoods...
They have been countless complaints on here as well as on the web about this.
I bought my hood from UPP.
Its a 6" Cowl hood which I will have somebody to do some fiberglass work to make it look right.

There is one guy who had a carbon fiber hood made.

Anyway......
As far as steel hoods goes you will have to make your own.
Now there is a few guys on here that have made their own hoods on here.

You can add a steel one on just about anything with the skill. We did one on a 55 chevy car and those are real flimsy
