Doing it for the kid! 71K20 4X4
we are taking it down to the frame for a non-show resto. we are currently at; the frame is sandblasted and painted with chassis saver, and we are waiting on parts, alot of them, to start putting it back together, so far this has been a blast!

Re: Doing it for the kid! 71K20 4X4
Great Project!
I think it is great for a youngster to learn how to work on his own truck. I've tried twice to do that with my 2 nephews, but it hasn't worked out. Mainly because their parents think I'm the one that should be paying for parts! Good luck, it looks like you have your work cut out for you. john

got the disc brake brakets from ruff stuff industries, used the same rotors as the front ,stock, all i did was press off the drums and press on the rotors. now i just have to install new brake lines and a prop. valve.

Re: Doing it for the kid! 71K20 4X4
Sorry,I was looking for the same springs for my truck up here,on my truck the main leaf is aprox 2 1/2 inches wide where the u bolts are, but the leaf widens out to around 3 inches at the spring eye bushings at each end. seems like most after market leafs are 2 1/2 eye to eye or I NEED a pair of reading glasses.... lol.....keep the pics coming looking good!!!!

Looking awesome, great progress made on a what would seem to be a truck heading for the scrap heap, but you are bringing it back to life. Good for you and your son. What wheel combo do you have on it?

Not quite sure. I purchased the wheels from a friend, i do know they are 18's.The tires are only for rolling the frame around and are temporary. Thanks for the nice words!

Great build story freakshow. I'll definitely be following this one closely.
Are your leaf springs stock height? |

Re: Doing it for the kid! 71K20 4X4
Finally got brake lines somewhat installed. Still trying to figure out the rear disc brake lines. I should have a breakthrough tomorrow! We spent all of our time and money this summer on his other hobby, motocross, now that winter is here i refuse to stand in the rain and mud and sling money at a miserable time. We love racing but the winter is just to hard on the bikes and the mental well being!
