Emergency brake cable question
My truck has a later model Chevy 12-bolt rear with stock drums. The cables have been cut but mostly still there. On the truck, the handle, front cable, and everything back to where the individual rear cables attach is all there. I want to buy new rear cables but my question is, did the original style 57 cables hook into the brake lever inside the drum like the later ones do? If I buy replacement cables for my 57 will they work with the later rear brakes without any changes?
I bought a re-pop 57 service manual but the pictures are so dark I can't really see this part, and I don't have access to an original 57 rear axle to look at. Last edited by Russell Ashley; 06-07-2010 at 10:02 AM. Reason: added details |

Re: Emergency brake cable question
I used Lokar for my truck complete from pedal to 12 bolt rear end but I think you can use there cables with the stock setup. Check out their website

Re: Emergency brake cable question
I used the cables for the rear and the setup from the hand brake back to the cross bar. Then had short cables made to go from the cross to the new rear cables
