75 shorty - Need to go lower, HELP.
So ive got my 75 shortbox lowered on belltech suspention and 20" american racings but its not low enough for me and ive seen alot of other trucks around with the drop im looking for so Im looking for my next move. the truck has a 5/6 drop and dropped spindles and 3" (maybe 2", cant remember) springs up front and just a flip kit and notch in the rear. I wanna go about 2 more inches all around if that is possible so what do I need to get? Shackels or blocks in the rear (could I use blocks with the flip kit?). cut front springs? I heard there were two variations of belletech drop spindles for these trucks, one was like a 2.5" and the other a 3" but I dont know if thats true. Let me know if someone knows whats up. th\anks

Re: 75 shorty - Need to go lower, HELP.
275/35/20 rears, 255/20/fronts. the wheels are custom built offsets so the truck will tuck tires if it were on bags (one day). I am jusr trying to figure out what it takes to do like a 6/7, 6/8, 7/7, 7/8 drop I just want it lowere than it is. There is a member on here with a pretty nice white one that has nice drop on it. Dont know his name though.

Looks nice as it is. Do you have any side view pics? The white truck may be classic87's truck.
Here's the link to his truck. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=249927

255-20 fronts? In the pic, the tires look like 255-35-20's or 255-40's. Spindles & springs get you the 6" front drop; a flip kit w/the 8-leaf spring pack & dropped shackles should get you 8" rear drop.

Re: 75 shorty - Need to go lower, HELP.
yeah thats the truck I was talking about above and my bad, I have 295 wide rears. I dont know why I put 275 on there. and yeah I f'ed up again the fronts are 255/35/20's LOL. I dont think they make a 20 series sidewall in any tire. LOL! Actually I am not sure what classic87's drop is but I may be looking to go just slightly lower than that (at least in the rear). I had the 8 leaf spring pack in the rear but I swapped it out for the four leaf pack instead. S I should just run some drop shackles in the rear then?

Re: 75 shorty - Need to go lower, HELP.
i think you maybe talking about a big 1o on here. was it a dark grey shortbed on torq thrust's? i tried searching threads for it but had no luck, does anyone know what truck i am talking about? as far as your rear, i have shackles on my truck, for about a 6.5 drop. on the highest it setting it could be more though. as far as your front. have you looked into lowering arms? oh, awesome truck BTW

Re: 75 shorty - Need to go lower, HELP.
After mine was dropped, I needed the rear down just a bit more, so I used a 1" lowering block. It went in just fine...maybe someone will say not to use them, but with the flip kit, the rear is similar to a S10, and lowering blocks are the normal way people lower the rear of them.

Re: 75 shorty - Need to go lower, HELP.
well thats what I was wondering about, Can you use loering blocks with the flip kit safely? Or would it just be better to use lowereing shackles with the flip kit?

Re: 75 shorty - Need to go lower, HELP.
I would go with the shackle route: $40-$60 for parts, easy to install, plus you will have the option of going with 1" or 2" of drop with the same part.
My truck above is dropped 6/8ish... FRONT: 3" springs and 3" spindles REAR: 2" shackle, 4" dearched springs, and a spring removed. I wouldn't recommend going any lower than 6" on the front for a static drop... on a DD. I don't think you are going to be able to go another 2" in the front... but I'm sure someone will chime in differently. Anthony
