Hey nice truck.
Live close to 81st? Your neighborhood houses look like you live next door to a good friend of mine.

She's a 1983 model in need of some work... I knew the tranny was in bad shape, but I pulled the pan today and found what appears to be a chewed up retaining ring of some sort, mostly in very small pieces. Just for grins I went ahead and changed the filter and test drove it again, no change....So I guess that's the first thing that gets fixed.....I'm hoping to find a good used 700r4 for a good price, if not I may have to go with a th350 for the short term, usually $100-150 from the scrap yard....

Initially I was hoping to run the stock 305 for awhile to give me time to get something else built, and the money to do it LOL....But, she's smoking a fair bit on decelleration and at cold start.... I hear a thumping noise while at idle, I'm hoping this is coming from the tranny, but knowing my luck it's in the motor...If it is in the motor it's coming from the back of the block or rear cylinders, doesn't sound like valvetrain noise.....Please be tranny noise, lol......

As you can see, the body is very straight, only a couple small dents that I can find. She's been painted but I can't find where any major body work was done.....

Anyway, there she is......wish me luck!!!

Michael

Adjust your TV cable. I see them adjusted badly on the older models pretty frequently. I recently adjusted another '83 with a 700R4 and the owner was amazed on how the tranny behaved differently.
My '83 is a smoker too on hot days. I don't mind. I nearly have 50000 miles on the 305 since I've bought it. It now has 158300 miles on it and still kicking asphalt.

I was going to try adjusting the TV cable today, but didn't get around to it....Planning to do that first thing in the morning.
