Recommendation for headers?
I have a '85 Silverado, and I'm in the process of building a 400 to put in her. Could someone recommend a good set of headers, and a good place to purchase a set?
Thanks! |

Re: Recommendation for headers?
Hedman 1 5/8" from Summit. Mine fit perfect.

Re: Recommendation for headers?
I have some big tube Hedmans on mine and love them, thick flanges and they havent leaked, been on the truck for 5-6 years.

Re: Recommendation for headers?
i got the summit brand headers for $99.99 and they have not leaked at all, but i also used aluminum gaskets which is a must when you dont want leaks. if you get these be sure to paint them yourself because the original paint will chip off and the headers will rust within 2-3 months, but hey they perform awsome!

Re: Recommendation for headers?
I've had great luck with the Hedman Elites. Thick flange, no leaking, nice looking coating on them and most importantly they clear the shift linkage on my 4-speed truck, which not many headers do. Just bottom of the line Hedman's on my auto tranny truck - they work great too.

Re: Recommendation for headers?
I'm going to a Summit store this weekend to purchase a few things for my sb 400 build and was going to call ahead to make sure they have everything there before arrival. That was the main reason I was looking for a part # for the headers. They acually have 2 headman headers listed for my truck,so trying to determine which one is the best one to get.
