New here and a project in hand
Hi everyone. This is my first post on this site.
I just aquired a 1969 Chevy C-20 2wd P/U. I was trying to find somone the other day, and in his yard, I found this. I talked to him about it. He wanted "a couple days to find the title, a day to clean it out, and I really feel like being a Jew today, so how about $40. That will pay off my bill at Sam's and get me another pack of cigarettes." That was after we had been messing with it for a couple hours, and was able to get it running. We got it to my house yesterday, and I put some more time in it. I can get it to start and run, but only if I put gas in the carb. I am getting fuel all the way to the carb, but not into the carb. I think everything is varnished up from sitting for about 10 years. It is all original the best I can tell. It still has the AM radio, and I ran the number on the motor, and found out it is a 307. Not sure if I should be excited or nervous about that. I can't figure out what I want to do with it. I like the idea of just keeping the motor stock, and redoing the body, as it is in rough shape, but I think it is servicable. This will not be my first go-around. A few years back, I did a 1985 Ford F150 that I got from a Junkyard, and ran it into the ground. I was in high school then, and really didn't know what I was doing, but is sure was fun. I live in a really dusty area, and have no garage, so I am not wanting to go haywire with details, but just make it nice and serviceable. I will also be using this as a daily driver, errand runner, load the 4 wheeler in the back and go for a ride, pick-up. I have a 2003 Dodge ¾ p/u that is my main rig, and will be used for hunting in the winter (lion hunting), and anytime I will be going outside of the valley on the dirt roads. (not many paved roads in the valley either). Any ideas? Thanks, and I hope to post often. Marcial |

welcome. nice find. dont be nervous about the 307. it is a great engine. i used to have one in my 68. ran the dog s^&* out of it and it never gave me any troubles. thats more than i can say about any 350 i have ever had.

Good score. $40 won't even fill my tank! I can't believe you got a runner for that price! Hopefully the dry Nevada weather's been good to that old timer. Welcome to the board!

Ha Ha - Luck is a good word! I have actually never been THIS lucky when it comes to stumbling on good deals, lol... Gonna go out in a few minutes and mess with it a little more.
