SM420 tailshaft swap question
So as usual I have little time and less money, so I'm rattling some ideas around in my head.
Latest idea: switching tailshaft on the SM420 from torque tube to open and have to wonder is it as simple as finding a donor trans to use tailshaft from ? I have a Ford 9" that would take car of the other end of things. (Someday (years most likely) I'd like to upgrade to a T5. Just not in the cardS right now) Anyone done this ?

Re: SM420 tailshaft swap question
My book shows 48-67 are the same mainshaft. So I think you just need the yoke, rear bearing retainer, seal and shaft nut. maybe the speedo parts.

Re: SM420 tailshaft swap question
there are cheap tranny's all over for this upgrade. hit the pull-a-part on 112th for a deal on a T5 and go for it. the extra $$ spent i well worth the upgrade.

I'll have to check it out and see what trouble that brings.
