88 Crew cab dually

I just picked this dually up a couple weeks ago. 454, th400, rusted rockers...

It was parked for about 3 years when I got it, I charged the battery and it started right up I was going to bag my 2wd K5 but decided I would use the parts that I had for it and bag this dually instead. I spoke with Nathan @ Porterbuilt and he is going to start building me a 4-link that should be here in a few weeks.

So the plans are bags, two tone paint, 16 or 17" wheels, carpet kit and I'll probably swap the th400 next year for a 700r to make it a little more highway friendly. I'm hoping to have it mostly done by the end of September but I'm sure it will take much longer.

Here is the truck when I got it

Re: 88 Crew cab dually

today I had a couple free hours so I changed the fluids, filters etc... I took the running boards and mirrors off, looks like it's going to be easier to find a couple of doors instead of filling these holes

I've learned that lesson a few times, Nathan has been great to deal with. I've changed my mind on what the plans were a couple times aleady but I think I have it dialed in now. The bags for this dually might not come til late this year/spring but the wife gave me the o.k. to get my blazer and the dually done so I think I'lll TWO weekend trucks next summer!!

I forgot I started this thread!! I havent made as much progress with it as I would have liked. I did drop it off for paint last week though, I decided to two tone it black and light blue, I wasnt 100% sold on the colors so I hope it turns out ok.

My spindles and flip kit showed up too so I will be lowering it as soon as I get it back.

I'll try, I may be dropping it off at a friends house to do the drop. My blazer is still in pieces in the garage and I really dont feel like doing it in the driveway.

yep, when I get home I'll snap a few.

Picked up the truck today, they totally screwed up the way I wanted it painted. Black was supposed to be on bottom and the paint break is much lower than I wanted it but I think I like the way it turned out. I have until monday to let them know if I am going to have them redo it. I think once I tint the windows and get it a little lower it will look good. I wanted something a little different but not over the top, I'm not really thrilled about the way the paint breaks in the front of the front fender. Here is a crappy cell phone pic for now

Re: 88 Crew cab dually

The colors look pretty good on the truck. Seems like the factory 2 tone break is at the body line on 89-91, and the dually fender is the same color as the lower color. That might look a little better.

I didnt want the break on the body line, it was supposed to be just below the door handle which would leave the dually fender the same color as the body. I wonder if painting the dually fender blue would make it look better? It actually doesnt look as goofy in person

I think it would. Even the earler 2 tones (with the higher break) had the dually fender all one color, and the stripes make a bump over it. Seems like it would be hard to make the break at the top of the fender look even.

I think it looks good.
but with that said, it isn't what you wanted or asked for so make them do it over the correct way
what is between the colors? gray stripe?

Joe has a point. However, if you got a hookup, you may not want to step on toes.
