What does a 2wd Blazer weigh?

I'm trying to figure out if there's any weight advantage to building a race truck with a 2wd Blazer frame over a shortbed C10 frame. I have both right now, but no way to weigh the Blazer frame.

The Blazer frame is shorter. By how much and at what lbs saving, I don't know...

I believe the SWB truck is 119 wheelbase and the blazer is 106. I'm not sure of the weight savings. The only weights I can find are for 4wd K5's.

Re: What does a 87 2wd Blazer weigh?

Cool. Thanks.
I really thought they would be lighter since the title to my 82 C10 says it weighs 3800. When I took it to the track, it weighed around 3800(with me and 12gal of fuel) with minimal weight reduction. I'm gonna go ahead and build the Blazer and see what it comes out to.

Re: What does a 87 2wd Blazer weigh?

If you plan to build the blazer with the top and tailgate you will definatly heavier than a c10. The tailgate alone is really heavy. As far as weight transfer goes you may be better off, but over all the K5 will be heavier. Also there were no 2WD K5s factory in 87. 82 was the last year GM made them in 2WD, so if you looking online for wieght that may be why you can't find it.

Re: What does a 87 2wd Blazer weigh?

The frame I got is a 87 4WD Blazer and I'm putting a 78 truck cab on it with a shortened bed. I'm also converting the Blazer to 2wd. Thanks for pointing out about the year. I guess I need to rephrase my question. What is the weight of a 73-84 2wd Blazer?
I found specs for the 4wd K5's online. They were heavy beasts around 4300-4400lbs. I did a comparison of a C10 compared to a K10 of similar body and the difference was about 1200-1400lbs. Assuming that would apply to 2wd and 4wd Blazers, the 2wd should be around 3000-3200lbs. That would be awesome if that's the way it works out.
