Engine Swap Question

I 'm purchasing a 1998 Chevy 2500 with V-8. I have a 1999 Silverado, new body style. I need to know where I can find out what it would take to put the 5.3 V-8 from the 99 into the 98. (Engine swap only or Engine Transmission swap. I would like information that would lead me through the process. Thanks for any help in this matter. rj100

Re: Engine Swap Question

There is a sub-forum on the Engines/Drivelines forum that addresses this particularly. I'm going to move this one for you and leave a redirect up for a few days. I'll also send you a PM to let you know.

Re: Engine Swap Question

This would be interesting. I wonder if the chassis and dash cluster plugs are similar?

Browse lt1swap.com and get familiar with what it takes to do a stand alone swap. Also the engine and tranny harness basically unplugs with three connections (without 4X4). See the pic below. I'm a newb to ls swapping and I haven't successfully finished my first but I thought I'd try and share a little info.

C2 is the plug coming from the fuse block. C152 and C100 unplug the harness from the chassis and dash cluster. Just can't remember which is which.

Re: Engine Swap Question

I would check out the hybrid section of LS1tech : http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids-28/

I know there are a few guys on there that have swapped in LSx engines into the 88-98 body style pickups
