How Many Miles??

Just out of curiousity.. but how many miles you all clock on your original engines before you had to replace, rebuild,.. or still run?

Mine had 400K, on the original 305.. still ran good too,... apparently was too worn to burn clean anymore for emmisions...(burning too much oil)

replaced with a 350

A tired warrior of the 1980s in a world of low profile tires, front wheel drive, and plastic bumpers, where people stay in their houses until snowplows move the offending substance from their paths, too helpless to travel without AAA and chains and salt, clearing their windows with longhandled brushes while gently stepping around in the snow trying to stay nice and dry.

Re: How Many Miles??

I'm about 1/2 way, at 187,000.

As far as I know, the air cleaner (base) has never been off.

(ie, original gaskets, intake never off, etc).

Re: How Many Miles??

Come to think of it... I know the transmission fluid and filter have only been changed once, and that's when my dad had the new engine put in... dont think the rear-end has been messed with either...since we got the truck back in 89

wonder how many miles one can put on these things before something goes?

I know the truck hasn't been abused.. (Hot-rodded around and such).. maybe that helps?
