Re: 700r4
If you're using a Quadrajet carb, you can probably find some factory linkage to do the job. If you're using a Holley, you may need an aftermarket kit, unles you're the type that's comfortable fabbing stuff. You can find some information at Bowtie Overdrives...

Re: 700r4
You did put a quart of fluid into the converter before you installed it, correct? You did get it to engage in two steps while twisting the converter on too? You have your TV cable set correctly? 700R4's are finicky to being setup correctly and it doesn't take long to kill one if not.

As for moving even if the TV cable is not set correctly, I thought I recall that you could have problems getting into gear, to move as the TV sets the preasures for the different bands to lock up. Not set correctly makes the bands slip too much and not move into gear. This is what will burn up a 700 in a couple hundred miles, assuming it was enough to move it. Also, I have run into not having enough fluid. This will definitely cause it to not move in gear. With the engine running, have you cycled thru each gear, waiting a few seconds before moving into the next gear? Once done I believe you have to have the engine running and in Park to then check the fluid level. Is this level correct on the dipstick. Many things can change the "listed" amount of fluid needed. Big cooler, deep pan, etc. Also being fresh, it takes a little more than if just doing a fluid change. Hope that helps and good luck.

i took it out and took it to a mechanic i know and it was confirmed the input shaft is diffrent only has 27 spline.. note they dont make this type of spline anymore and that spline is none to break easy on 700r4. so a had him tare it down and replace the shaft..and the pump |
