Your thoughts on 84 dually?

I'm going to look at an 84 dually with 454 and TH400 today. Salvage title due to being hit. He wants $1500, but I want it for a parts truck. I'm thinking to offer $900, take what I need for my GMC diesel and part the rest out. What do you guys and gals think?

I know in my neck of the woods if it's a rust free as it looks and runs $1500 for it is a steal.

Re: Your thoughts on 84 dually?

Being over on the west coast its about average.. it depends if what you need is in good condition.. I paid $900 for a truck with some cab rust and messed up front fenders.. but it had $900 worth of parts that I needed and then some.. so it was worth it.. plus a friend needed money so it was a win win

Re: Your thoughts on 84 dually?

I would say $900 is fair if you just want parts, but I wont hardly buy a parts truck unless i can sell/scrap enough parts to pay for it self and get my parts for free.

Re: Your thoughts on 84 dually?

Well, I picked it up yesterday. PS, PDL, tilt, cruise, PB with hydroboost, AC, PDL, 4.10's and posi. Pretty straight, and runs well. Needs a bath pretty badly.

Re: Your thoughts on 84 dually?

There are $1200 in fees for the thing. Got it for $950, and will try to get DMV to waive the fees, but if not out comes the sawzall.

Brought it home and hosed it off.
I might use the front grille and headlight doors for the GMC. I prefer it to the GMC grille. Anybody want a pair of bumper guards? Cheap?
