what 350 trans?
hey all
i have a '65 lwb chevy. 350 crate engine with 2 speed powerglide and was gathering info on what is needed to upgrade to a 350. trans from what year vehicles will work and if i need a different drive shaft. all info is appreciated. thanks |

Get a "short" TH350 (Approximately 27"-28" from bellhousing face to rear seal) and your stock driveshaft and crossmember will work as-is). The transmission can come out of a car - it doesn't have to be from a truck.
You will still need to cobble the shift linkage, kickdown cable, and cooling lines. Ray |

AFAIK, they didn't change significantly over the years. The only one you might want to avoid is the 350C which uses a lockup converter and has a bad rep. It can be identified by an electrical connector on the case. The regular 350 has no connector.
Naturally, you want to be sure yours has a Chevy bolt pattern, not BOP. In other words, you want the front of the bellhousing to look like the one on your powerglide. Ray |
