Re: carrier bearing?
I had one that broke like yours a few years back................The pinch welds that held the top to the bottom broke loose and dropped the driveshaft................I just welded them together and put it back on.....................It's been close to 8 years and it's still holding together fine................Hemmit

Which brings up a point. If you're breaking carriers often, Losthope, you may have a driveshaft balance or angle problem. I've not broken my made-in-china carrier since I fixed the driveshaft 10 or more years ago.

Re: carrier bearing?
This may be a stupid question, but ...
What advantages does a two piece driveshaft have over a one piece or vice versa? My 66 has a one piece, but my 65 parts truck has a 2 piece. Which is better and why?

Re: carrier bearing?
IMO on a long bed a 2 piece is the best way to go. The one piece on a short bed is just fine. A lot of guys have trouble with the carrier bearings. But again IMO that is because they are using the whimpy light duty carrier bearings. I've never had an issue with the heavy duty carrier bearings as shown in these pics.

Re: carrier bearing?
Is there a way to check and see if one is bad?
