Rochester Carb Issue

I have a Rochester 1BBL on my 64 inline six and the when I pull the choke lever the the shaft moves but the choke butterfly doesn't it just freely hangs. I rebuilt the carb several weeks ago and it was doing great but today I was having starting issues and believe this is the problem. I've search the interwebs high and low and can't find the shaft assembly, is my carb done and I need a new one or is this replaceable?

Can't seem to get that to load on my computer, any other link? And the butterfly is firmly attached to the shaft but moving the choke lever on the side of the carb doesnt turn the butterly closed or open.

Re: Rochester Carb Issue

Then the cable must be sliding thru the lever link or the lever itself is ( I believe is been stamped on the shaft ) and is loosened up and rotating on the shaft, If thats the case you`ll have to remove the plates pull the shaft out and restamp it if possible, or what I have done in the past is if the shaft and lever not to rounded off is to drill out the center of the shaft and tap it and use a machine screw to lock the lever down with a washer and lock ring. the shaft being brass will drill and tap very easily....

Re: Rochester Carb Issue

IIRC, the lever that the inner cable attaches to is not part of the shaft. There is a coil spring wound around the shaft that connects the two parts together. So if the spring is missing, broken, or unhooked, pulling the cable won't rotate the shaft.
