I believe you should run it in 2HI. With the transfer in Neutral you should get NO power to either axle. Also with the part-time kit, you should shift the transfer into 4HI or 4LO about every 200 miles to get fluid to the pump in the rear of the case. The way I would remember is just to lock it in everytime I filled up with gas and then throw it back into 2HI about 10 miles down the road.
