Re: '67-'72 Accessories Article
this article is part of the confusion that many people have telling what is an option (installed on the assembly line) and what is an accessory (sold over the counter at the dealer). The thing that makes the waters even more muddy on this, is many factory options were also sold as accessories, like the cargo light and seat belts... but stuff like the 8 track and vent shades were never offered as factory installed items.
And not, the vac guage was never factory installed in 10 - 30 trucks, with the possible exception of special fleet order/gov ordered trucks. The storage box on the bed side came into play in 1970. The horn button mentioned was supposed to be only on CST trucks, and to my knowledge never over the counter. Still an interesting article though |

Re: '67-'72 Accessories Article
I think the caption that says "While most of the OPTIONS were factory installed a few were designed to be dealer add-ons to spruce up a truck on the lot..." explains that not all of the items were assembly line pieces.
Also the caption on the tool box points out that it's exact date of availability is questionable as certain "experts" like yourself have seen them in 1969 trucks. 1970 may be official, just going with what the facts say. |
