89 s10 frame?

Would a 89 s10 reg cab long bed frame /running gear work for putting a 52 3100 on it? Would I have to cut the frame? Thanks

Yes, that is the correct wheelbase S10 for a donor for the 52 3100 truck. The only cutting you'll need to do is a little off the frame horns up front and a little of the rear frame rails to clear the back edge of the bed.

Hi Daverod, if you are looking for a definitive guide to doing this frame swap, try doing a search for the thread "S10 frame swap" on the H.A.M.B.
I know the guys on this message board are really great and eager to help, but there is a TON of info. there that someone took a great deal of time to post. Just view it as another resource. We can never have too much info. can we?
Good luck with your project...John

Re: 89 s10 frame?

Hello 62CHEVYII, I just had a quick look at your build thread. There,s a ton of good stuff going on there. Thanks for the post and good luck with your project. I have the twin to your truck and am planning to use an S 10 frame also ,but am going to extend the cab about 14". Long wheelbase frame should work out O.K. Not full bore into the project as yet, still gathering up pieces and trying to finish a '55 Chevy frame -off . If it would just warm up a bit here. ( it,s still -25C) Hard to get motivated when your teeeth are chattering........ John

I didn't know you were over here now. Welcome.
I've talked to you over at RatRodsRule a few times. I'm ZippyDoDog over there.
Actually, I shouldn't even be talking to you.... I'm still mad at you for selling your truck

the extended cab frame would work great for you then... im curious to your plans on how you're extending the cab.. behind the door, making the door larger? etc...
any pics or drawings of your plans?

LOL, yeah eventually maybe I can build one I can keep. That racing bug is an ugly thing and eats a lot more money than old trucks. I should just stick with old trucks!

Re: 89 s10 frame?

For anyone who hasn't seen 62ChevyII's build, check out how he did his bed floor. I wish I had seen it before my S-10 went to the crusher. Or even better, maybe we can talk him into posting a pic of it here.
