mirrors

Has anyone ever bought mirrors from JC Whitney? They have some of the small "sport" mirrors for $8.95 each. I'm thinking you get what you pay for, but sometimes that is not always the case.

Hello Im new here but I thought throw my two cents in. I have the smaller retangular ones on my 82. The trouble I have with them is that they sit to close to the door, less that a 1/4", and they really don't provide the view needed for mirrors. I did see a truck in town that had some euro mirros, I believe they made them for VWs. This trucks mirrors were painted to match the rest of the truck and they sit up about 3". They looked awesome on this truck. I'm trying to track them down, so when I find out I'll let you know, if your interested.

Scrounge the bone yards and get a set from a late 80s early 90s Suburban. They fit our trucks with the vent windows, and are remote.

Just a thought.

Tom, if you find out what they are LET ME KNOW!! They sound sweet. And Virgil, I would love to go to a good bone yard and search for some but there are no good ones around my area.

Will do. I may go at lunch today and see if the truck is still parked where I originally found it.
As a side thought, and forgive me is this sounds stupid, but the mid 70's granadas & monarch had a sort of racng mirror that really looked sharp, kinda what the early chevelles/elcamino use to have also, the only difference is that no one looks for old granada parts- so there a lot cheaper.

Well they stopped making them back in 82 so little before your time. The granada and the lincoln version, versalle, were different. Some of them had 351 windsor motors that were pretty quick, they even had 9-inch rear ends with disc brakes. I know I had one with a automatic, the wheels would chirp when shifting into 2nd, not bad for a 4 door family car.

No! ugly box. The only good thing out of them is using the front ends on old mustang so you could have disc brakes or disc with a 9-inch rear.

I got my mirrors from an 84 Monte Carlo and painted them to match the pain job. I think they look really sweet.
