$500 in the truck, and probably...around $5k over the years in maintenance and parts just to make it a reliable daily driver and road trippable. That doesn't even count the $15k+ I need to pour into it to restore almost everything now...engine, trans, body, drivetrain, tires, wheels, paint, etc.

1200 originally. Drove it as it was for a year or so. Then the motor blew. That started the expenditure of what has seemed like a million dollars in odds and ends lol

Re: How much do you have invested in your truck???

Paid $900 for mine, body was great except one dent which i had to end up replacing the bedside but found a good one in the junkyard for cheap, did paint and body work myself, built 3 engines 3rd one finally held up to the abuse, 3 transmissions, current one holding strong, 3.73 with a locker got for $100 etc etc etc basically i would guess around $7000 i've saved a ton doing all the work myself, the list can go on and on basically like everyone has said, it depends on if you do it yourself, and what you spend on parts i shop around and mostly get lucky when i find good deals on stuff, classifieds and junk yards are my best friend.

Seriously though, I was shopping for a truck with a few features, reliable, decent looking and reasonably priced. Reality set in so I decided the money was better spent on my $300.00 beater. I ended up with a rebuilt old truck that could be driven anywhere and folks tell me it pegs the Kool meter. Guys have made me offers at car shows and such, flattering to say the least, but it's not for sale. No way I could sell "The Heap", it's too much fun to drive!
C,mon Brian . You told me since noone took notice of old heap anymore,& you had got tired of it , you were going to fix you up a real truck , like a 50 chevy or f-100 or something
