Question on Rims??
First of all just want to say thank you to all those who post on this site. You guys are a wealth of knowledge. Now my question is this I've got a 1965 chevrolet 6 hole drum that I want to put a 2005 chevrolet rim on. Only problems are the center does not clear, and the lug nuts I need to use to attach the center caps don't fit either. I've heard I can purchase a wheel adapter but don't know where to get one or even exactly what it is I'm asking for. I know they aren't 20's but for 100$ I think they'll do.Thanks in advance.

Re: Question on Rims??
Im running into that on my '92 and will have to get wheel adapters to get them to work. They are around $150 from wheel shops for 1" adapters.

Re: Question on Rims??
Im guessing you will need the adapters to help with the offset of the newer rims?

Re: Question on Rims??
I think the 4X4 rims might work, but the stock studs are only 7/16" which will not fit the newer lugs. You could have your axles and drums drilled out to get them to fit, maybe. I am thinking that I would rather spend the same money for some nice after-market rims that are designed to fit than go through all the headache and expense for a look that I am not as thrilled with.

Re: Question on Rims??
If you're worried about being able to utilize the oem center cap on those wheels that is held on with a captive plastic nut that attaches to the lug nuts just buy these lug nuts.
http://www.ezaccessory.com/GM_7_16_E..._p/98-0022.htm They are identical to the OEM lugs that came with the wheels except they are 7/16" x 20 vs. 14mm x1.50. Last edited by blackedoutharley; 03-20-2011 at 03:23 AM. |
