Re: finally running!!

I suck at drawing but I can try to draw up what I was talking about. You could make it out of metal if you have the skills and tools...which I sure don't. MDF and FG is pretty easy and forgiving to work with...just itchy...really itchy.

I helped design a few show car interiors that were heavily customized to the point where whole dash boards, door panels, and consoles were made. I didn't do any of the fab work on them though, I just did the brainstorming and idea creation portion of it. I gave my chicken scratch drawings, list of ideas, and explanations to my buddy who's a bit of an artist to do the rendering for me.

if you want me to shoot me a PM or post up the dimensions you're working with. Firewall to back of cab, between seats/brackets(whichever is wider), where your shifter is located, max height (i.e. where your arm rests).

Re: finally running!!

Nice Truck!!!!!!!!!! Have you figured out the blown gasket yet? Did the noise you heard sound like a backfire?

as for the gasket... from underneath i can see where there is a piece of it missing.. tomorrow night i'll have time to take it out and post pics. i dont remember hearing and significant back fire... it just got real loud real fast.

Re: finally running!!

Yep, judging from the picture i'm sure it did get a little loud. I would install a new gasket and then if it happens again and in the same area, we know it's the manifold. Also make sure all your bolts are tightened to the correct specs.

Re: finally running!!

rich... it was a new gasket. i even followed cliffords advice by letting it soak in water first. i think the material (all paper laminate) and the overall thickness was its demise in this case.

glos.... thanks for the confirmation. i think i might hit the manifold with a stone to see if there is any high spots too

Re: finally running!!

Nice truck, mr anderson. That gasket looks like paper; is there a heavier option? I'm not familiar with the 6's.

Re: finally running!!

mr anderson, how are you liking the T5? Have you been out on the hwy with it yet? Very curious. Have been considering this conversion for a while now.

Re: finally running!!

Very cool truck. I just bought a 66 short stepside. It is a driver but I am going to build another six to put in it this winter. There is a guy up north with a 64 230 that is rebuilt. Need more info on a t5 swap. Way cool truck
