A/C From a Donor Truck?

I really need to put AC in my 66 Suburban. I was thingking of going to a junk yard and getting EVERYTHING from a newer truck. All the parts from under the hood, and everything inside, even ducts, vents, controls etc.

Does anyone have an idea of what would be the closest fit to a 66? I know that there will be alot of fab work, and I will have to ditch my stock heater, but thats fine with me. Also the donor truck needs to be new enough to be R134.

I dont know of anything that would work, other than an aftermarket unit from either Vintage Air or Old Air Products or something like that.

I have the OAP and it works great.

Seems to me that since most trucks are roughly the same size, there must be something that can be retrofitted.

Only one way to find out.

I was going to pull the AC pump off a 73+ to convert to an air supply. I would think you could retrofit AC gear, but I've never had a truck with AC before.

I called a local dismantler and its only $200 for EVERYTHING! So if I can get something that would work, it would be GREAT!

What all is included? I'd be interested in seeing a parts list breakdown to figure out where stuff would fit.

I am going to buy the knee knocker vintage air unt for the cab, use all the other stuff from a 91 burb to keep the a/c cheap.

why don't u get the rear air unit from a 91 burb while ur ar it....??
