Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

Those look like they are repo plates. The bar code and packaging are new. Still look nice though. I don't know if GM sold them throught he dealer or not. I'm sure you ccan get teh same plates through Truck Stop , Classic Ind. or LMC for less.

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

I ordered and recieved a set and I don't know if they are nos or not. They have some blemishes in them like scratches and stuff and are definately not chrome, more just a stamped steel finish.

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

Hey guys, got my set in that I ordered from that guy on ebay today..

I don't think they are NOS either. They look like re-chromed originals possibly, or just really poorly stamped and chromed. My old ones are in storage so I cant compare right now.

There is pitting and some small dents in my set, see the pics..

Oh and the other dead give away is the sticker, unless GM had a website in 1966, WHY IS THEIR WEBSITE ON THE STICKER? I'm pretty sure it's a fake sticker, this part # doesn't seem to show up any place.

Always nice to know when you catch'em in a lie, you ought to demand the shipping fees back as they mis represented the product, Hey but what the heck life goes on.

That is terrible man, sorry to hear. Also, I don't think barcodes came around untill the 70's sometime. I would write ebay and let them know he is mis-representing his products, or just give him negative feedback.

I sent the message below because he still has more he is selling as NOS...

Quote:
Greetings....
I am curious?
Since when did GM use Bar Codes and a have a website (that sort looks like a web site on the sticker but not positive?) in the 60"s? If you bought these from someone and they told you they are NOS....someone may on the wrong page. Your thoughts.

The reply...

Dear cob1708,

We got these General Motors,we have sold several sets of these with no complaints,I even bought a set for my truck,if the bar code is an issue, maybe it would be best not to buy a set.

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

I think the term NOS is used loosely here. They very well may be genuine gm and may still be available today. I know i still buy some parts from the dealer for my 67-72 trucks. Are those NOS parts?

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

when I worked at golden state 10 years ago, we were still picking up the sill plates from gm , they had a kind of dull chrome finish, I would check and see, but I bet gm still has them available.

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

I bought some about 6-7 yrs ago locally from GM, they are already rusted pretty badly-the chrome is just too thin IMO.

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

I think the issue here is the difference between NOS (new old stock) and new production GM parts. The sill plates with the sticker with the bar code are newer production GM parts, not NOS.

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

would it only be nos after it was discontinued from production?

I think these have been in production since 1960...

a couple of my trucks have real nice original sets on them, and they seem to have some sort of zinc coating? definately not a chrome finish, or even a worn out chrome finish.

Re: NOS trim...is this really NOS?

The seller doesn't sound very helpful and actually rude to tell you after the fact that it may be best not to buy them. considering the input given here and the fact that if you put negative feed back for him, he'll give it to you, I would consider giving him a neutral or positive rating and stating in the feed back, "Poor quality compared to originals of 1966". That might help out others to decide if they want them.
