nbrfd007,

Any progress on your suburban? I have not seen any pics around this forum since it was loaded on to a trailer the day that you bought it. Here are some pics of one to get you fired up.

66Gilbert,
Thanks for those great pics, that a great rig. Been working on the Suburban, got it running, drove few miles, fell back 100 miles. I have replaced the radiator, put a Holley 500 and HEI distributer on it, got it running good. The brakes where shot, so I started to replace the axles with later model one I had, but decided to keep originals. Redone the brakes with new parts with the help of InlineTube. Installing Captain Fab master cylinder and clutch set up. New rear wheel bearings, now the 221 Transfer case is being replaced with a 205 NP. The paint is next.
Thanks,
Tim

This is the prefect truck. I have this as my background on my computer. Thanks for the additional pictures that I have not seen before. It would go great with my 62 Suburban. Does someone on the board own this?
Thanks,
Tim

Those aint no home dogs in the back, either.....
They know the dude in the cab....Ya' can imagine what was said (in dog-speak) just before the ol' guy eased into the water...."if we start out up here against the cab, we might still be in the box when he shuts her down on the other side..."

Yeah,

The Older dog looks like he's done this before and knows to stay down.

The younger black and white dog appears to be holding on for dear life.

How do you know it was a dude? It could have been a 4 wheeling chick and these dogs were probably saying what Scooby Doo would say 'Rut-ro Shaggy!' Here we go! Hang on if you want to make it to the other side.

Re: 60-66 Chevy And GMC 4X4's Gone Wild

1963 Chevrolet was the first year without hubcaps on the 4WD. Wheels were painted black unless you had two tone paint then the wheels were painted main body color.

A 9 in front of the series designation indicates that it's a GMC part. 10 is Chevrolet 910 is GMC

Thanks for the great information. This is nice to know and very interesting. So I take it GMC's had hub caps for all seven years? Also the second picture not a two tone and has the wheels the same color as the main body and the GMC has white wheels. Here are some pics of 4x4's with and with out hub caps from some advertising brochures.

Re: 60-66 Chevy And GMC 4X4's Gone Wild

66Gilbert the parts book has no listing for 4WD hubcaps after 62 for GMC either. Interesting! Any pictures of a GMC from 63-66 with factory caps with the cutout for the hub?

KTEN are those 16" wheels on your gorgeous truck?

I'll have to find it and scan a picture of a 63 with hubcaps plowing snow in a Chevrolet advertisement. Yet as I have been told 63 did not come with hubcaps.

If you look under " Engine " it says that the 63 came with a 230 but in reality 4WD's came with the 235 in the base model. 230 was not available till 64. Information from the 1963 Chevrolet Data Book.

Yes even guys in Trench Coats and Fedora's are interested in 4WD.

From the 1963 Chevrolet Silver Book
