2wd frame swap. What year is this frame??

I have a 88 blazer I want to swap on a 2wd frame. From what I have read, you cant swap the newer tubs on 77 and older frames but you can swap them on 78 and up. And 78-80 would be perfect for me because I want to back date the front clip to round eyes. SO my question is.... how do I tell what year this frame is and what can I do to mount my 88 tub onto this frame. I can ask the seller for more pics. I just need to know what to look for.

Look for a partial VIN on top of the frame...mine was under the rear seat on the passenger side

I saw the vin there, just haven't decoded it. I will check it tomorrow.

Spudz, any links to what you were reading? I was not aware of a difference in the frames?

Re: 2wd frame swap. What year is this frame??

I did a search in the blazer burban forum in title only and put "frame" for my search keyword and read a few of the threads with frame swaps. Something about the frame is different for 77 and older because in 78 they changed the frame to allow for more rear passenger room.

^ That's rear passenger FOOT room - on earlier models, the floor rose up just behind the front seats and put the rear passengers knees around their ears. Later models incorporated a foot well, the floor didn't rise up until right in front of the rear seat.

It's just surface rust and dirt, I haven't cleaned it up yet. It's been sitting outside without a body on it for who knows how long.

Spuds, kids had a ballgame today. I will get the numbers tomorrow, sorry for the delay.

Got the numbers. They are C7F141766

According to the breakdown in lmc that makes it a 77 and not a bolt on. I looked and can see the differences, so its not gonna be as easy I thought either....

Re: 2wd frame swap. What year is this frame??

well with that being said I am going to pass. BUT thank you very much for going through the trouble of finding out what year it is and I wish you good luck on selling it.
