Do you know where your truck was originally Bought from
I thought this was interesting and was wondering if anyone else knows the history behind their projects or trucks, I bought my project truck 55 1st series from my neighbor who got it at an auction up in Nebraska where his family still owns some farm land, long story short he bought it up there and hauled it down and it sat out in his back yard under his lean to shed for a few years until I finally wore him down and got him to sell it to me two years ago, from the auction he got an old title with it from when it was last transferred to another family member back in 79, (they appeared to be the original owners), the truck was in decent shape considering it was a used hard as a farm truck all of its former life and under a layer of flaking off paint I found the original dealership sticker that they painted over some time ago, and with a quick google search it seems the place is still in business, Todsen Chevy in Oro Nebraska.
I have been working on this truck since last January (2010) and hope to have it on the road for next spring |

Re: Do you know where your truck was originally Bought from
Wow. cool.
I only know that my truck was built at the Los Angeles truck factory. It is titled as a 56 but has a 57 front end. So either it was a late 56 or it had major front end damage and was replaced with a 57 front end and hood. On a similiar note at the wrecking yard a few weeks ago I was checking out an 84 vette. I noticed some folded papers in the floor. It was the original sales agreement from the dealer. 1984 corvette Sold used with 6k miles in April 1984 (must have been a demo?) Buyer put down $10k cash Financed $22k 15% interest (ouch) <<<<Total amount to be paid with interest $37k (I am not 100% sure on this number.) Last edited by 01spirit750; 05-25-2011 at 03:55 PM. |

Re: Do you know where your truck was originally Bought from
My 59 was bought in Phoenix and used as an appliance delivery and maintenance truck. Second owner used it for a DD and trash hauler. I bought it in 1976 as the third owner. Somewhere before me it saw a lot of off road use, there was Arizona clay up in the headlight buckets, inside fenders and cab corners.

Re: Do you know where your truck was originally Bought from
My 57 was bought new at Kelt Chevrolet in beautiful downtown Grants Pass, Or. I'm the second owner, got the original leather key fob/holder with it. Drove it to Phx in June of '85, been here since.
Kinda the opposite of Orrie's. Mine spent it's life as a service truck in a gravel pit operation in Or. Original owner was a drinker who drove it into a ditch in the early 60's. Still has a lead body repair on the drivers door. The guy I got it from was the original owners brother but the title was the original when I got it. Original buyer brother died in the late 70s. My 50 3100 was bought in Lewistown Montana from Dowen Motors. It is now called Sparks Auto Plaza. I bought it from the second owner, he owned it from 1956 till I got it in 1999. He moved here in the early 60's. This pick up has 13000 original miles.
