sort of a sad day
Sold my truck last week. We needed a 2nd vehicle and could not swing it financially. The truck went far enough away I probably won't see it. So we bought a used honda crv and had some money left. So off shopping I went. Picked up a 62 impala 409. More room for the family and still pretty cool.

Re: sort of a sad day
Ooh, a sad day indeed. I LOVED your truck. I has been wallpaper on my computer for quite awhile. Huge condolences.
HOWEVER, a '62 409 is nothing to sniff at. Imagine if you'd bought a Honda and could afford NOTHING else! Please stay in touch and show us what you do to the Impala. Best, Dan Posted via Mobile Device |

Nice impalla. My favorite year. A hard top even! A buddy of mine has a 62 imp and a 71 2wd blazer. Both bagged and nice. I hate him

Re: sort of a sad day
how much did you pay for the impala? 409 cars aren't cheap, seems like you got a good amount for your truck.

Re: sort of a sad day
Neat Cars!
I drove a 62 409 in 1964, and when a 327 Vett beat me guess what, sold the 409 and bought a 1965 Corvette, I miss the 409, but I am still driving my 65 Vette. Great ride, but tell me they steer better today than they did in 1964!!

Re: sort of a sad day
I got the 62 impala for $15,500.00. I talked him down from $22 after we found out the 409 was really a 348. They restored the car 20 years ago and were told by the guy who rebuilt it that it was a 409. As soon as I saw the dip stick on the drivers side I new something was up. It has sat in a garage for the last 18 years. I'm just in the process of changing all the fluids and getting it started.

Re: sort of a sad day
It's a sad day for me too. I'm sad that I didn't know your truck was for sale, and I'm sad that I didn't have the money to buy it anyway, LOL. It's definitely one of my favorites.

Nice Impala, you will like the CRV too, my wife has a 05 as her DD and our road warrior. 70K and zero problems.

Re: sort of a sad day
I just finished helping a neighbor drop a 454 in his impala. it has a very mild cam, sounds great and it is a torque monster! We pulled the 454 out of a suburban found on craigslist. Your truck was a piece of art, I'm glad you can still have a 'toy'. do you plan on driving it as is, or doing a resto on the impala?
