Howdy from the Adirondacks
Howdy! I'm the proud owner of a 71 Cheyenne 3/4 Ton with a 350 crate engine, Holley 4BBl, 4WD, Turbo 400 A/T, A/C older frame off resto, beautiful blue/white paint job. Found it last year and couldn't be happier. Of course, "Babe, the Blue Ox" stayed in heated storage all winter. My woman thinks I'm out of my mind keeping a 4WD truck in storage in the winter! Too bad. First time I had her in the truck I pushed her up to 95 MPH.
I also have a '63 Studebaker Champ, 289,2BBL, 2WD, 1/2 Ton Sliding glass rear windshield and factory A/C! Anyway, looking forward to learning more about our trucks. I'm away at work until June so sorry, no pics until I get home. Drive safe! |

Re: Howdy from the Adirondacks
Well I finally made it home! The woman is happy. My truck is happy too. Can't figure out how hook up the camera to this antique computer. I have a couple of questions for those of you with more smarts than me. Where is the engine's serial number? I can't find it anywhere.
The transmission has a number on the back C-9904 1N. I tried googling that but haven't had any luck finding anything. Also the rear end doesn't seem to have any identifying markings on it at all. All I know is the guy I bought it from told me its known as a Detroit Locker. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: Howdy from the Adirondacks
Okay. Thanks to A1Tony for returning my call. I got under the truck again with my trusty grease gun and hit all the zircs I could find. And lo and behold, there was number cast in the rear end staring at me! I did some research on here just now and found an old thread about casting number 3934635. Apparently I have an Eaton Locker type rear end. Whether its an HO52 or HO72 is unknown.
