fuel gauge

Stock fuel gauge was only showing half tank when full, and empty when empty, kinda. Replaced with aftermarket gauge, now only shows empty. Checked my wiring, everything is good. Checked the ohms for the sending wire, 74 ohms. Supposed to be 90 when full, 0 when empty. I have between a half tank and 3/4 of gas. Returned gauge, put new one in, same thing. Gauge moves up to E when I turn on truck.

So, I'm getting 74 ohms with truck off, when I turn truck on, sending wire says -158.xx ohms...

Ran power to gauge straight from battery, in case with truck on it was causing the sending unit to do funny things, but problem still happens.
