Deal or not

I've run across a 99 5.3 with about 98k miles and basically everything from the motor, all accessories, wiring harness, core support of original truck, gas tank, full exhaust and even the tranny for 1200$ just wondering if its worth it I would sell the tranny, exhaust, gas tank, core support to make some money back just wondering if it's that great of a deal

Re: Deal or not

seems to me like a decent deal for all that's included. Big question is, if you only need the engine, are you sure you can sell the rest and make it worth it?

X2. if its a 99 it most likely has 298K. I purchase a 2000 5.3 with 60K and when I got the vin out of the pcm and carfaxed it, it had was a 4.8 with 225K. It cost 2200 to rebuild on top of my 650 purchase.

You want to pay at core for it which would be just at $675 plus $100 for the extras. So $850 is good but I would not go higher. You can get 2005's for 1200

Re: Deal or not

You can get up to a 07 old body style ( and down) and change the dbw to dbc, no issues. just when you get to GENIV is when you have to adjust some.

Re: Deal or not

What would be a fair or average price for the 6.0 with the accessories and wiring

Re: Deal or not

with under 100K, I would say around $2K, I was looking on LKQ last night and near me, 6.0' with no accessories were at 1700.

Re: Deal or not

Was that without the tranny? around here on lkq and some local places they are usually 1200 without accessories and decent miles but id rather have all accessories and wiring I can usually find them anywhere from 1500-2200 with what I need

Re: Deal or not

For a lower mileage 6.0 your price is pretty good. There are other places to buy them also, I would call LKQ and ask them for the package price. I like LKQ just because I can call and get someone if something is wrong ( never had any issue tho). Also look above the thread here and there is a LSx thread on parts and pieces and where to buy.

Re: Deal or not

Look on car-part.com as well. I got my 6.0(145k) with all accesories except ac. If I was thinking I would have got the computer and DBW stuff at the same time. The harness is complete and they didn't cut it anywhere. All for $900. I plan to stroke mine so the mileage wasn't too bad. A compression or leakdown test can tell you alot about the motor as well.

Re: Deal or not

forget all that. Just drop an old school big block in it. You have no wiring issues.....
it's cheaper and easier to work on, cheaper to build up and TONS more power.... and you can pick one up for way less than what you're talking about spending on your LS motor

Re: Deal or not

that's just fine... different strokes for different folks. If you want mpg to increase you're right... definitely don't get a big block!!!

if you wanted good gas mileage though, you'd be driving an civic... and not a square body. But ya I see where you're coming from... best of luck with the motor
