I'll own another one someday.

Re: Vintage picture thread

What a cool thread. So many memories. How come they never start with my Mom bought this truck?

This is me when I was young. Dad bought this truck when I was 2 months old, me and my son are building it now.

I know this vintage photo has been previously posted but I wanted to add a contemporary photo at the same location (Duluth, MN) that I took earlier this week.

10 years ago we had just finished this El Camino, and the wife and I drove through Duluth on a road trip. Just as we got there, a windstorm hit and blew stuff everywhere. It sounded like the El Camino was getting sandblasted, but it faired well. The wind knocked the power out, and pretty much upset everything. we didn't get to stay there that night.

Thanks Dale. It may be the most fun car to drive we have ever built. I've put over 40,000 miles on it since the restoration.

Re: Vintage picture thread

Bummer. Duluth is a nice place to visit in the summer if you get the opportunity to return. Lots of activities and (in keeping with the thread) vintage things to appreciate such as steam locomotives, light houses, Babe Ruth autographed baseball, lift bridges, old boats...

Re: Vintage picture thread

I bought my blazer from the original owner who was in a blazer club in Southern California. One of their members took a photo of the group from up on a hill. He told me that the photo was taken while on a trip to Bishop Ca I believe. His is the medium gold one in the front row.

Re: Vintage picture thread

Ya I thought it was pretty neat. The original picture wasn't terribly clear to begin with. So I borrowed the photo and had it blown up. The original is an 8x10 I think.

It also makes me wonder how many of the trucks in that picture are still around today. Or any of the original owners or new owners of those trucks on this forum.

Re: Vintage picture thread

My son just sent me this link from "Truck Camper" magazine about 1969 campers. https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/...r2SLs360i4OsP4 . It shows Chevys, GMCs and the other brands with campers. Here are some pics with the GM trucks. I think I saw a thread about a week ago with some pictures of a service body that looked similar to the one in one of the pictures.

Are you there Jocko?

Cool stuff.

I can't imagine trying to drive an El Camino with an overhead camper.

Must be some kind of photo op. Fender skirts are usually installed after the car is delivered to deter theft.
