which headers to buy?

Im in the market for a set of headers for my 65, my main concern is how low the headers are going to hang down. My truck is lowered 2.5" in the front and 4" in the back. I thought about the patriots because they come in mid length, but would like full length headers.

I have also heard of guys running car headers, like out of a chevelle or camaro, so that they wouldnt hang down low. what are you guys doing?

Re: which headers to buy?

If you are still running a manual trans as indicated in your sig line, that will be a factor in selecting a set of headers. There are only 3 headers that I know of that will work with the mechanical clutch linkage. Two of them are long tubes that hang down below the frame. The other is the Hedman 69260's which are made for these trucks. The collectors end just forward of the bellhousing crossmember at a downward angle, a little higher than the other long tubes. If you were running an auto trans, there are other options. Of sourse, you could always convert to a hydraulic clutch. That will run about $220.00

Re: which headers to buy?

I run camaro lt's on my 65 and they only hang down below the frame maybe an 1". I'm bagged and don't have any clearance issues.

Re: which headers to buy?

Nope, this is for the 65 that I'm building, it has a 700r4 in it.

Can you post some pics of your headers by chance?
