Re: 87 long bed

I'd like to welcome you to site, but you need to be a supporting member to post wtb ads. Also, why you going to paint it? You will be a lot of money ahead to run for awhile as is, and upgrade your hood and grille as you go. As far as tires with 6-8" lifts, somewhere between a 35"-38" tire would look pretty good. Trevor

Re: 87 long bed

you can do a 6" susp and 3" body to clear 38's. 6" susp will clear 35" tires. I used to have 8" susp 3" body

Re: 87 long bed

4 inch should clear 35's. we had 33's stock on an 86 and then lifted it 4 inches and 3's were way too small then.

Re: 87 long bed

and a 4 speed too NICE! You should clear 35's with 4 inches of lift. I am at 4 now and clear 34 swampers with room to spare. Depending on what you going to use the truck for would dictate lift and tires. If it was me I would go 5-6 and re centered h1 headlocks and humvee tires. I like running trails tho.

Re: 87 long bed

hey sorry for not keeping up on here. I have been hearing a real weird poping noise comming from the rearend of my truck and replaced the u joints. Well that wasnt the problem so i took the diff cover off and the center is gone. OOPs guess this means new 14 bolt rear end to replace the old.

They don't. What you're referring to is a proportioning valve that adjusts rear brake bias based on the load. When the bed is compressed from a heavy load, it provides more rear brake bias. I eliminated that from my truck when I put the lift in.
