question on ece 4.5/6 drop install
Just got a quick question, working on installing my ece 4.5/6 drop kit on my 69 gmc on this beautiful rainy Sunday. Im kind off following the project blank slate build thread from 72BlckButy as i guide. My question has to do with the trimming of the bump stops as seen in his picture here.
He left part of the lip there and that part of my lip has a crack and is kind of crunched down as if it was bottomed out really hard once or a couple dozen times. Is there a purpose to leave that lip of can i just grind the whole thing off? |

I think that area acts as the steering stop. I am sure some one else will chime in here soon to confirm.

Yep. The bump-stop portion was removed & what remained is the steering stop. The stop limits the amount of turning travel but you technically don't have to have it (many guys just shave the whole thing).
You can cut it all off or repair where it's cracked.

So far it all looks pretty clear. Im still waiting on my springs wich are being drop shipped directly from the place that makes em for ece so there is only so much to do till they come in. Next biggest decision will be the wheel and tire debate. I really like how big al 71's 18/20 set up looks but im kind of going for a street strip truck here and most popular drag radials appear to be in 15" wheel sizes. Right now it is one 215/70 r15 fronts and 285/70 r15 rears so i guess ill see how she looks and go from there. These springs wont be here soon enough.

I am installing an ECE 4/6 drop kit also. I called ECE and they said there's no reason to remove the bump stop. I have the kit installed but no engine or front clip and I still have plenty of room even with the full rubber bumper
