86 Windshield Wiper Motor Rebuild

Just wondering if anyone has tried to rebuild their wiper motor.
Mine has been dragging really bad for several years, even after I greased all the pivot points.

I took mine apart yesterday and cleaned up the armature windings and the brushes. Greased the worm drive and the rear bearing seams to move easily and I think it will perform well if I can get it back together.

My problem is trying to reassemble the motor.
I have rebuilt several alternators, and it was easy to re-assemble because you could hold the brushes in place with paper clips inserted through the rear of the altenator while assembling, but the wiper motor has no such access.

I tried to assemble the motor armature to the brush assembly first, but when I try to insert the armature into the housing, the permanent magnets snatch the armature loose from the brush assembly.

Anyone done this?
What's the trick to re-assemble?

Thanks for any help

What about a replacement motor.

Advance stocks a A-1 Cordone rebuilt wiper motor for $50, a new A-1 Cordone is $95.
Anyone have experience with rebuilt wiper motors?
Have any problems?
What other option would you recommend?
Dealer?
Some other manufacturer or rebuilder?

Have you searched around the net to see if you can even get the internals to re-build it? Just wondering if the cost of those and your time would outweigh gettin a new one...

ironicly my blown dremal had brushes that were an exact fit so with new brushes and me turning down the contacts smooth it worked, as for the part with the motor being sucked in when trying to put it together taking the top screw off and insert a screwdriver down the shaft and it keeps the internals from being sucked in, so just push the back of the motor in and pull the screwdriver at the same time and bam its together and can go another 25yrs
