Bucket Seat ID Help

Picked these up today on craigslist for my 81 stepside and have a few questions. The owner said they were from a 71 pickup when she had them recovered for here husband. I have seen that the part number for the foam is the same for 71-75 pickup at classicparts, but these have the hard plastic back on them. Doesn't the hard plastic piece indicate they came from a blazer or did all low back buckets have this piece? Since the foam is the same I should be able to order covers for a 73-75 bucket seat and they would fit right? I know there are a lot of threads about bucket seats because I used them when I installed high back buckets into my truck, but I could not find the answers to these questions. Any help would be much appreciated.

Here are some pics:

Nice find! It looks like any set of seat covers would fit them. If you decide to sell the covers that are on there let me know. They dont look like they are in to bad a condition. The backs were standard across all I believe. Im sure someone who knows more will chime in shortly.

Re: Bucket Seat ID Help

Thanks for the help n2trux and xs. I hate to take the black covers off because they have never been sat in, but my interior is saddle so off they come. I will keep you in mind xs on the covers. Since they are blazer seats can I just remove the hard plastic pieces on the back of the seats and install truck covers?

Yes you can. Trucks with buckets never had backs on them.

Re: Bucket Seat ID Help

Thanks bigblock, your site helped a lot when I put high back buckets in my truck this summer. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the covers for your lowbacks that you have in your truck and did you put aftermarket seatbelts in it too and if so what color and from where? I have the saddle interior in mine and I dyed my console and door panels with SEM light buckskin which it looks like you may have used that color too. I jsut want to make sure everything matches.

Thanks
